In the light of all that Jesus Christ has done for you, what could you ever add to it? God doesn't need any token oblation that you might be willing to give. He wants you to accept His free gift, which cost Him the ultimate price. Think about it: even a human being would not be stupid enough to sacrifice what God sacrificed if there were any other way. Titus 3:5 says that it's not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; ... so no one is good enough to earn salvation. You must receive the free gift from God. Set aside your pride, and admit that you have been wrong and need to change but cannot possibly meet the requirement. Admit that you need Jesus, God's only unique Son, and receive Him. Ephesians 2:8 says that you are saved by grace and through faith; and that this salvation isn't of yourself: it's the gift of God. Grace is the free gift of God, and through it we are saved from slavery to Satan. It is a powerful, multi-faceted gift meant to free us from slavery to sin and death. If you believe this, it's because the Holy Spirit is working faith in your heart. If not, it's because you are resisting Him. If you believe this, you can accept Jesus into your heart right now. Whoever believes in Jesus is born again. Being born again is the first step to a new life in Christ Jesus. It's the first step in drawing near to God.
